A Celebration of Independent Filmmaking
EIFF believes the short film format is arguably one of the most exciting and demanding formats for filmmakers.
Launched in March 2025, the Essex International Film Festival was the first county-wide film festival in the UK – screening fifty films in four venues across Essex.
We return in 2027 with a new format but with the same ambition – to make it the best possible festival experience for filmmakers and audience alike.

The festival will also include a diverse programme of masterclasses and workshops led by leading industry professionals.
